Princess Christian Shngle, a Gambian actress, writer and film producer, Friday donated baby items worth more than D20,000 to Serrekunda General Hospital and Mbowen Clinic in celebration of her birthday and Christmas.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the presentation, Princess Shngle said: “I believe in giving back and this is something I have been doing for years. Since 2010, I have been donating to Jammeh Foundation for Peace Hospital and other schools.

“I just came back to The Gambia about a week ago to actually shoot a film in the country and today is my birthday so I decided to celebrate it with all the babies that were born today. That is why I decided to go to these two hospitals to donate to all the babies that were born today.”

Alieu D. Badjie, public relation officer of Serrekunda General Hospital, expressed gratitude to Princess Shngle on behalf of the board, management and staff of the hospital.

“We are very much grateful to Princess and her team for the wonderful gesture towards national development,” he said.

Fatou Sussoho, a midwife at Mbowen Clinic who spoke on behalf of the clinic, also hailed Princess for “the wonderful gesture” saying the gifts will go a long way in helping the babies.
