The Gambia senior national squad will clash with the Democratic Republic of Congo in a friendly game billed for Wednesday 10 August 2011, at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
The friendly game is part of the Gambia’s preparations for their crucial 2012 Nations Cup qualifier away to Namibia in September and at home to group F leaders Burkina Faso in October 2011.
The Scorpions, who lost to Guinea Bissau 3-1 and to Nations Cup core-host Equatorial Guinea before beating Gabon 1-0 last month, will use the test game to prepare for their crucial Nations Cup qualifiers against Namibia and Burkina Faso respectively.
Burkina Faso are currently leading group F with maximum 9 points in three games. The Gambia are 2nd position with 3 points in two games, while Namibia are rooted at the bottom of group F with zero point in three games.
The Scorpions need a victory against Namibia and Burkina Faso to qualify for their first-ever Nations Cup finals in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea next year.
