The Gambia branch of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) are consolidating their membership and gaining new membership to show their loyalty to the party.

The executive of the SLPP Gambia branch have disclosed their plans for a membership drive, the improvement of welfare for needy Sierra Leonians in The Gambia and fund raising for party affairs.

According to Bobordeen, the financial secretary of the branch, many of their colleagues have died and are dying. "Sometimes we do not have enough money to help and before we know it the person has died. Many SLPP members have died including APC ones. We need to look at our welfare and other needs" he said.

SLPP Domingo said, "we need to put words into action and actions into practice." He urged the leadership to wake up and not see the APC's rule as a defeat for the SLPP as it is all about consolidating the peace and developing the country.

The SLPP branch agreed that president Koroma's visit was a move in the right direction but could have been used to unify APC members who do not believe that the SLPP belong.

The PRO Egdatima A. Kanjia said, "the politics of any country is like a football match. Look for others mistakes. If you don't do anything you don't make mistakes. No one should hate anyone else while they are on the pitch."

Thomas Fakondo stressed that a communications link to the main office should be established to keep them abreast of party business going on back home.
