Gambia Senior Secondary School Holds Graduation Ceremony

As part of its 50th anniversary, the Gambia Senior Secondary School last Thursday 4th June 2009, held its annual graduation ceremony at the school's grounds in Banjul.

In his welcoming remarks, the 2nd Vice-Principal of the school, Mr. Betz, said Gambia Senior Secondary is among the schools in the country with excellence in education, adding that the school had produced brilliant students who are contributing towards socio-economic development of the country.

He commended last year's grade twelve students for their brilliant performance in the West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and the school athletics team for lifting the Gambia inter-schools athletics champions for the third time in a row. He also commended the Gambia Ports Authority for sponsoring the fencing of the school.

Dr. Modou Jasseh of the Medical Research Council hailed the management and staff of the school for providing quality education to the Gambian children, and he urged them to keep up the momentum.

He said that the school have produced brilliants students who are now contributing immensely to nation building. He advised the students to take education seriously and always respect their teachers and urged them to make the best use of their parents' money.

For her part, Janet Sallah Njie, a Barrister at the Supreme Court of The Gambia urged the students to make the best use of the money invested on them.
