Russia
and The Gambia have signed a military cooperation agreement. It was inked by
Deputy Chief-of-Staff of the Russian General Headquarters Colonel-General
Vasily Tonkoshkurov and Gambian Chief of Defence Staff Ousman Badji.
“It
is important that we have a common desire to energetically develop bilateral
relationship. We value traditionally friendly relations with the Islamic
Republic of The Gambia. We want to enhance our political dialogue and mutually
beneficial cooperation in spheres of mutual interest, including military-technical
cooperation,” Tonkoshkurov said.
“This
meeting is of specific significance as the agreement on military cooperation
between the governments of Russia and The Gambia was signed,” he added. It will
form the necessary legal basis for bilateral cooperation, Tonkoshkurov said.
Badji
stressed the meeting would give the necessary impetus to the development of the
