The Gambia U-20 used the friendly match to prepare themselves for the forthcoming WAFU football tournament to be hosted in Senegal from 3 to 10 October 2015.
The Sateyba-based outfit used the friendly game to prepare themselves fit enough for the 2015-2016 Gambia Football Federation domestic division one league season set to kick off later this year.
The Gambia U-20, who were the better side, opened the scores through Gamtel striker Yaya Ndong in the first half from a penalty spot to give the Darling Scorpions the lead, which eventually proved to be the winner for coach Omar Sise’s charges.
The Sateyba boys responded back for an equalizer but to no avail thus the game ended 1-0 in favour of the Darling Scorpions, who are bracing up for the WAFU tournament set for next month.
The U-20 Gambia under the guidance ofhead coachOmar Sise have already embarked on a massive training exercise at the FIFA Goal Project in Old Yundum, West Coast Region, with 35 players, to scout out good players for the upcoming WAFU tournament.
