The Gambia National team has returned home from Bamako, Mali, after their recent elimination from the 2018 CHAN qualifiers.

The home-based Scorpions lost to Mali 4-0 in the return-leg clash played at the Estadio Modibo Keita in Bamako at the weekend following their goalless stalemate in the first leg fixtures played in Banjul, a week ago.

Coach Alagie Sarr and his home-based Scorpions charges needed a score draw in the return leg against Mai in Bamako at the weekend to progress to the second round of the qualifiers after their goalless draw with Mali in the first leg played in Banjul.  They however could not get such a result but conceded four goals in the second half, which resulted in their exit from the qualifiers and Mali through to the second round of the qualifiers.

The home-based Scorpions now need to wait until 2020 CHAN qualifiers after their recent elimination from the 2018 CHAN qualifiers.
