Gambia National team, the Scorpions on Tuesday returned home from Limbe, after their 2-0 defeat away to Cameroon in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers played on Saturday.

The Indomitable Lions shocked The Gambia in the return leg fixtures to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted in Gabon.

The four-time African champions Cameroon finished top in group M of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations with 14 points in six outings and are also unbeaten throughout the qualifiers.

Gambia finished bottom place in group M of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with only 2 points in six games after losing three games against Mauritania and South Africa 2-1 and 4-0 respectively.

They thereafter lost to Cameroon 1-0 in the first leg in Banjul in 2015 and 2-0 in the second leg in Limbe in 2016.

The Scorpions finished the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers without a victory in six games.

The Gambia now need to wait for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers to search their luck to qualify for the first-ever Africa Cup of Nations appearance since the inception of the continent’s bi-annual biggest football jamboree.
