Ferry boys Gambia Ports Authority on Tuesday thumped Academy boys Samger 2-0 in the week-eleven fixtures played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium to move away from the relegation zone in the 2013-2014 Gambia Football Federation division league.

Adama Cham and former U-17 right-back Abdou Njie were on target for the ferry boys in the 16th and 35th minute of the game respectively.

The ferry boys 1-0 win over the academy boys was their third consecutive victory in the country’s premier tier after beating Brikama United and reigning league champions Steve Biko in their two previous fixtures after their woeful start to the current league campaign.

The academy boys 1-0 defeat against ferry boys has left them one place above relegation zone and will be expecting to win their remaining fixtures to keep their title hopes alive.

Hawks thrashed Security outfit Interior 3-1 at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium, with goals by Lamin Chatty, Musa Bangura and Omar Sarr.

Elsewhere, the newly-promoted side Banjul United drew 1-1 with relegation threatened Bakau United in the other week-eleven fixtures played at the Banjul KG 5 Mini Stadium the same day.

Hawks have now snatched 16 points in eleven games; Interior are with 15 points in eleven games; Gambia Ports Authority are with 14 points in eleven games, and Banjul United are with 13 points in eleven games.

Samger and Bakau United are both struggling with 11 points each in eleven games and will be expecting to win their upcoming fixtures to move away from the relegation zone.
