The Gambia Football Association has named a 20-man team for its final game of the African Cup of Nations qualifier at home to Burkina Faso due to take place on October 8, at the Independence Stadium in Bakau, Pointsport can confirm.

The list includes fit-again charismatic forward Ousman Jallow, who watched the Scorpions’ last qualifier match with Namibia on the sidelines due to illness, while suspended defender Kebba Ceesay, who plies his trade with Djurgarden in Sweden, is another addition.

Ceesay’s teammate at both club and national teams Pa Dembo Touray is expected to reclaim the captain armband in the absence of regular skipper Mustapha Toubabo Jarju, understood to have withdrawn from the qualifier following misunderstandings with his MLS employers, while possibilities of welcoming back Saineh Nyassi from a long injury layoff look unlikely.

However, there is no place for Sainey’s twin brother Sanna as well as Dawda Bah, who is set for a lengthy spell on the sideline due to a knee injury, which is expected to keep him out of action for six months.

The squad, blended with few home-based players, includes goalkeepers Pa Dembo Touray (Djurgarden), Musa Camara (Gamtel) and Alagie Jobe (Real de Banjul).

The defenders are Kebba Ceesay (Djurgarden), Omar Jawo (Syrianka), Momodou Futty Danso (Portland timbers), Abdou Jammeh (Kazna), Ebrima Sohna (Sandefjord), Pa modou Jagne (FC St Gallen) and Abdou Njie (Gambia Ports Authority).

Midfielders are Tijan Jaiteh (free) Demba Savage (FC Honka), Saihou Gassama (Real Zaragoza), Abdoulie Ken Mansally (New England Revolution), Aziz Corr Nyang (Brommapojkarna) and Abdourahma Dampha (Neuchatel Xamax).

And the strikers are Momodou Ceesay (MK Zilina), Ousman Jallow (Caykur Rizerspor), Ebrima Sawaneh (RAEC Mons) and Ali Sowe (Gamtel).
