Gambia Cricket Team Lose in World League Opener

The senior national cricket team over the weekend lost to Rwanda in Saturday's opening match of the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cricket League Division 3 tournament in Malawi, according reports reaching Pointsport.

The team, which left Banjul last Wednesday for the championship came all out for 92 runs with Rwanda at 96 for 3 wickets. Their opponents won the game by 7 wickets.

The National Cricket side, captained by Prince Johnson were taking on their next opponents Sierra Leone yesterday as we went to press.

A 16-man delegation, including 14 players and two officials: Malamin Fofana, alias Faraba, team coach and Johnny Gomez, the team manager, made it to the championship.

Lesotho, Morocco and host Malawi are three other teams vying for the six team championship and will clash with the senior national side.

The tournament is expected to last until October 8th.
