The Gambia have started intensive training prior to their 2018 CHAN Qualifiers against Mali in July 2017 in Banjul.

The Gambia under the guidance of coach Alagie Sarr assisted by Foday Bah, Abdoulie Bojang and goalkeeper Abdoulie Njie, are currently training with 28 local-based players at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium for crucial qualifiers against fellow West Africans for a place in the next round of the qualifiers.

The Gambia failed to qualify for the 2016 CHAN after losing to Senegal 4-1 on aggregate in the qualifiers. The Scorpions lost 3-1 to Senegal in the first leg in Dakar and 1-0 in the second leg in Banjul.

The Scorpions also failed to qualify for the continent’s local-based players’ competition since its inception in 2009, by CAF for players playing their trade in their domestic league competitions.
