GAMBEGA Launches Fanta Strawberry

Gambega Limited, a subsidiary of the Equatorial Coco Cola bottling company and one of the leading manufacturers of beverages in the Gambia on Saturday 27th June 2009 launched another product of Fanta Strawberry, thus bringing to nine the total number of products in the returnable glass bottle segment.

The launch of the new product into Gambian beverage market was done at a press conference held at the Sheraton Hotel and Spa in Brufut.

Speaking to reporters during the briefing, the Commercial Manager of Gambega, Mr. Johnny Agbagba, said the day marked yet another milestone in the history of Gambega company as they take another bold step in a bid to provide refreshment for their numerous and highly cherished consumers in the Gambia.

Sometime last year, he added, the Coco-cola company together with the Equatorial Coco Cola Bottle company (ECCB), who are the owners of Cocio Cola in this market and also the owners of Gambega met and during their discussions, they observed a unique development in the Gambian soft drink market. For Mr. Agbaba, it was noticed that the Gambia was a unique "fruity market".

He however told journalists that a follow-up blind test was conducted among consumers sometime in April this year and the result had shown a strong consumer preference for Strawberry as another fruit flavour they would like to have.

Mr. Agbagba further revealed that Coco Cola being a consumer-led company, who is in the business of offering refreshment, wasted no time and decided that "Gambians should be given yet another treat that is flavour of Fanta".

According to him, the new product was introduced to the public on Monday 29th June 2009, adding that "it is bold fruit-flavour carbonated soft drink and had an exciting taste".

He said that Fanta Strawberry is Coco Cola products; bottled here in The Gambia by Gambega, under strict and controlled conditions, which he said, conform to the internationally recognised Coco Cola quality management.

He dilated that, it targets mainly teenage and young adults who seek lot of fun and variety. He also informed journalists that the new Fanta will be sold at the same price as the other 330cl soft drinks.

Mr. Johnny believes that with the additions of Fanta Strawberry to their range of products, consumers will have their needs met. He noted that sales and profits of their customers will improve, offering Gambega the ability to offer mere excitement to numerous consumers, customers and general public at large.
