GADHOH to attend football tourney in Nigeria

The Gambia Association of Deaf and Hard of Hearing will attend a weeklong football tournament, set to kick-off in Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna in Nigeria from 1st-9th August, an official from the association confirmed this information to reporters on Tuesday.

The championship, which is being organised by the West Africa Deaf Sports Union aimed at promoting sports among the deaf people in West Africa sub-region, as well as to strengthen international understanding, peace and unity among the invited countries through sports.

This maiden football tournament being sponsored by the Economic Community of the West African States (ECOWAS) and the Gambia Association of Deaf and Hard of Hearing had since started preparation ahead of the tournament.

It is against this background that the association is appealing to the public, government and non-governmental organizations, as well as the private sector to give them support, so as to enable the deaf scorpions to take part in the tournament which would begin in less than two months time.
