The president of the Gambia Athletics Association (GAA), Dodou ‘Kapi’ Joof, has been able to secure a massive donation comprising two giant trophies and 92 medals for use by the GAA.

The items were donated by Alpha Jallow, a former Gambian footballer who now resides in Sweden and still pursues interest in sports and culture connected to his homeland.

The items, presented to the GAA on Saturday, were received by the GAA vice president Chico Njie alongside head coach Bamba Njie and former Olympian Clifford Adams.

Mr Njie thanked the donor Alpha Jallow and assured him that the items would go a long way to helping the GAA in its activities.

Commenting on the donation to this paper, GAA president Dodou Joof said Mr Jallow’s gesture indicates his love for the country.

He also encouraged him to extend his largesse to other sports. ‘’It has always been my desire to develop athletics and all sports in the country and that is why I am very grateful to Mr Jallow for responding positively in this drive,’’ Joof said.
