Fredricton Wanderers Academy beat Touray’s 2-1 in the opening game of Fredricton Wanderers Friendship U-15 tournament played at the Brikama Mini Stadium on Saturday.
Fredricton Wanderers Academy opened the score through Babou Foon in the 6th minute of the game to give his side the lead before Lamin Sanneh sealed the victory in the 23rd minute of the game.
Lamin Jammeh’s 42nd minute strike only proved to be a consolation goal for Touray’s Academy.
Brikama Academy also beat Lucky Dube Academy on the same score-line in the 11a.m. match.
Brikama Academy opened the tally through Modou Kebbeh in the 20th minute of the game before Ismaila Ceesay levelled the score for Lucky Dube Academy in the 30th minute.
Kemo Suso grabbed the winner for Brikama Academy in the 39th minute of the game to earn his side the maximum points, while Vibik came from behind to drew 1-1 with Jos Musters Academy in the third game at 12pm on the same day.
Vibik opened the score sheet through Sanna Tambedou in the 55th minute of the game before Ebrima Sonko levelled it for Vibik Academy to share the points.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Secretary General of Brikama Youth and Sports Association, Alagie S. Darboe, said the tournament is in complement of BYSDA’s efforts and he seized the opportunity to wish all participating teams a happy tournament.
The Executive Director of Nova Scotia Gambia Association, Muhammed Ngallan, said the tournament is meant to encourage and promote sport and to give opportunity for the youth to showcase their skills.
The tournament is organised by Nova Scotia Gambia Association in conjunction with Fredricton Wanderers Senior men’s team from Canada and Fredricton Wanderers School in Brikama.
