The Ferry boys came from two nil down to draw 2-2 with relegation threatened Serrekunda United at the Father Gough Sports Complex in Manjai Kunda on Sunday.
Serrekunda United are languishing at red zone before their clash with Gambia Ports Authority, who are leading the race.
Serrekunda United knew that defeat in the hands of the ferry boys would dash their hopes of staying in the top flight next season. Therefore they came all out and mounted pressure on Gambia Ports Authority.
Midfielder Lamin Jassey gave Serrekunda United the lead in the 20th minute of the game from penalty spot after Gambia Ports Authority centre-back and captain Matarr Ceesay handled the ball inside the area.
Gambia Ports Authority reacted quickly for an equalizer and created some goal-scoring opportunities and finally broke through Serrekunda United’s solid defence thus the first half ended 1-0 in favour of Serrekunda United.
Upon resumption of the game, Serrekunda United continued where they left in the first half and imposed more threat on Gambia Ports Authority.
They extended their lead through Lamin Jassey in the 67th minute of the game from Kebba Sambou’s brilliant pass to fire home the second goal to dash Gambia Ports Authority’s hopes of coming back to their feet and also complete his brace.
Gambia Ports Authority gaffer Alagie Sarr wasted no time to bring in several fresh legs to strengthen his striking forces in order to level and even win the game.
Substitute striker Francis Senghore pulled back one for Gambia Ports Authority in the 80th minute of the game to keep the ferry boys hopes of levelling the score.
Striker Francis Senghore netted the equalizer for Gambia Ports Authority in the stoppage time to complete his brace to inspire the ferry boys to the 2015-2016 Gambia Football Federation’s domestic division one league title, since 2009-2010 season under coach Peter Bonu Johnson.
