Magistrate Bojang of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court recently convicted
and sentenced one Mariama Jallow, Amadou Jallow, Barrow Bah and Emeka Azer to a
fine of D4,000 in default to serve three months in prison.
This was after they pleaded guilty for failure to keep the sidewalk of their compound or business premises clean, contrary to the anti-littering regulation 2007.
In their plea of mitigation, they all begged the court for mercy, as they were first-time offenders.
The particulars of offence stated that on 15 November 2014, at Dippa kunda in the Kanifing Municipality, they willfully failed to remove solid waste from the sidewalk of their business.
