Friends of The Gambia Association, a UK based philanthropists association, committed to helping the Brufut Marathon Development effort on Tuesday 18th November 2008 by donating four trophies, twelve medals, 102 certificates and a cheque amounting to D9,000. The ceremony was held at Senegambia Beach Hotel in Kololi. Mr David Sith, spoke about their association continue support to The Gambia and he urged Brufut Marathon association to carry on to organise a successful event this year.
Ousainou Joof, Friends of The Gambia representative in the country, informed the gathering that Friends of The Gambia has been supporting education and health among other things in The Gambia for 17 years. He urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the donated items,
For his part, the chairman Brufut Marathon, Mr Ba S. Jabbi, thanked the donors for the assistance. He said it has come at a time when preparations are in full gear for the event. The marathon will take place on the 6th of December 2008.
According to Mr. Jabbi, the success of the Marathon is not achieved in the absence of FOTGA who always render assistance whenever needed.
