Mr. Bakary Gassama, the former Finance Director at the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), was last Wednesday released from detention this paper has been reliably informed.
Mr. Bakary Gassama, who has been in detention since on 13th May 2008, was arraigned at the Banjul Magistrates' Court, on a charge of abuse of office.
However, he was discharged on 3rd December 2008 for "want of diligent prosecution" by the trial magistrate, but he was re-arrested and detained.
