The department of forestry and the Patriotic Youth of Association of Foni recently embarked on a massive tree planting at Bondali Lower Basic School.
Speaking on the exercise, senior forestry officer Babuccar Badjie, who deputised the regional forestry officer at West Coast Region, thanked members of the Patriotic Youths Association for their collaboration in the exercise.
Their participation in the exercise was a clear indication of their patriotism and love for the environment, he said.
Mr Badjie further hailed the community of Bondali, the school management and the forestry department staff for their concerted efforts at making the exercise successful.
During the exercise, more than three hundred different types of trees were planted including mangoes, cashew, oranges and lemon.
He also applauded the National Assembly member of the area for playing an important role in the development.
Mr Badjie called on other youth associations to emulate the Patriotic Youth Association of Foni by embarking on tree planting exercises, especially during the raining season.
He also urged the beneficiaries to take good care of the trees planted for them to survive.
Mr Badjie further stated that the forestry department is willing to collaborate with any association or department regarding tree planting exercise, while calling on all departments and associations to embrace the idea of the president to embark on tree planting.
