African
Women Educationalists, the Gambia Chapter (FAWEGAM), recently convened a
daylong policy engagement forum on girls’ education and development at Girls
Guide conference hall in Kanifing.
The forum
aimed at bringing together stakeholders to constructively discuss the education
policy and issues affecting girls’ education and development, particularly
towards policy implementation.
The forum formed part of the activities funded by FAWE Regional secretariat conducted in fifteen different countries in Africa including The Gambia.
The meeting looked into thematic areas, such as the education policy successes, policy achievements and challenges, strategies to improve girls’ education as well as the way forward.
Speaking on the occasion, Yadicon Njie Eribo, national coordinator of FAWEGAM, said she was delighted in seeing the various stakeholders who participated in the policy engagement dialogue to improve the education of girls.
According to her, the only way to improve education of girls is to address the gaps that are mentioned in the document presented to the forum by her office.
