The message by the Central Abuko Abattoir is clear regarding the exorbitant prices usually being charged for Tobaski ram, because of high demand towards such occasions.
This time around, therefore, there should be sanity in the system of Tobaski ram sale.
“We want to make sure that dealers give prices that are affordable, and anyone found wanting the law will take its course,” the Abuko Abattoir GM said.
We are Muslims; we should be reasonable with one another and fix fair prices for our rams.
Dealers should not use the occasion to exploit the people.
They should have in mind that this is supposed to be a sacrifice to the Almighty Allah, hence it as to be fairly priced.
On the other hand, there are other issues or factors that cause the situation to go more against the people.
These include sale space, border crossing and exchange rate factor as the dealers from across the border consider the CFA value of their stock and fix prices that are beyond the reach of most people in the country.
So, as the abattoir GM cautions, security officials at the border crossing points should ensure they pose hassle-free immigration checks at the border, so dealers would not be frustrated and caused to transfer the costincurred in transportation and checkpoints on the people so mercilessly, which has been the case over the years.
We should all play our part to be our brother’s keeper.
We should not use the occasion to make life difficult for ourselves as Muslims.
“It is not fair to ask of others what you are not willing to do yourself.”
