Fabakay Touray, former development officer at the National Sports Council (NSC), is now serving as the acting-executive secretary of the NSC, confirmed sources told The Point yesterday.
Touray, 32, succeeds the late Max Jallow, who passed away on May 19 this year.
He came to the NSC as development officer in 2012 and has since proved to be versatile and energetic often winning admiration from people including the late Max Jallow himself.
Fabakary came to the job with a wealth of experience as a teacher at the President International Award where he was lecturer of English and deputy head of school, in addition to teaching stints at Abuko Upper Basic School, Kunkujang Ketaya Upper Basic School, St Therese’s Upper Basic School and St John School for the Deaf.
Asked if he did not feel nervous putting on the heavy shoes of the charismatic late Max Jallow, Faks, as he is fondly called, said: ‘’Oh yes, Max is irreplaceable but he had shown me ways and given me inspiration during my stay with him and with those guidance ever with me, I am sure I would do my best to fill in his giant shoes.’’
