A
man in suit was on Friday arrested at King Fahad Mosque in Banjul with a silent
pistol, according to security sources.
The
pistol was found in the pocket of his coat.
Security
officials uncovered the pistol with their devices when the gunman, named Baboucarr Njie, who orginated from Medina Serign Mass, was about to enter the mosque
where President Barrow was praying.
The
man, who was swiftly arrested and taken away from the mosque, was an
ex-security officer at State House, but was sacked in 2014.
Up
to the time of going to press he was still held for questioning as the matter
is being investigated.
