Ex-GCAA Accountant's D4m Trial Resumes

The D4million trial of the Ex-Gambia Civil Aviation Authority Accountant Mr. Lamin Njie resumed on Monday 15th September 2008 at the Brikama Magistrates' Court before Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh.

However despite the presence of the accused person and the police prosecutor the case could not proceed thanks to the absence of the defence Counsel, Borry Touray.

It could be recalled that the accused Lamin Njie is standing trial on a charge of stealing, which he denied.

According to the charge sheet, the accused between the month of January 2005 to December 2005 at the Gambia Civil Aviation Authority, stole the sum of D4, 900, 000, being the property of the Gambia government.

He was since granted bail in the sum of D5m.

Meanwhile the case was adjourned to the 23rd September 2008.
