Popular Jamaican reggae singer Everton Blender performed in The Gambia recently at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
Organizers, TST Entertainment and Access All Music, claim Blender’s visit to
The German-based TST Entertainment and the UK-based Access All Music which recently moved its head of operations to The Gambia, said the concert was backed by South Africa’s All the Nations Band.
Some of The Gambia’s finest DJs like G Faaloutter, G Click and Fire Man of the Fire House Crew were the main selectors that night.
Ms. Karen Sonko, Chief Executive Officer Access All Music, told Entertainment: “We are a social enterprise organisation cum booking agents composed of professional promoters, with the objective of encouraging young people into the music industry and other gainful ventures.”
She said the group helps nurture and expose young talents to skills and opportunities that would enable them access the international market.
“Our first major project in the country is the forthcoming concert at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on April 27, with the renowned Jamaican star Everton Blender,” she said.
Gambian singers Bala Ranks, Queen Parla, Benjamin, Hard Breaker, Idealistic and Guluci also performed alongside the Jamaican veteran.
Ms Sonko said All the Nations Band is renowned for providing live backing to many international artistes including Capleton. She said 5 per cent of ticket sales will be donated The Gambia Organisation for the Visually Impaired (GOVI).
Christopher Mendy (Chris Black), Chief Executive Officer, The Gambia Promotion (GMB) said his company is also collaborating with Access All Music on this project.
