Bundung Magistrates' court presided over by Magistrate Kumba Sillah- Camara, on 2nd March 2009, convicted and sentenced one Sulayman Senghore to a fine of D5000 in default to serve one-year imprisonment. He was sentenced to one-year mandatory jail term.

The convict was said to have escaped from lawful custody while at the Bundung police station.

When the charge sheet was first read to the accused he pleaded not guilty to the charge, but after a marathon trial the convict in his defence admitted the offence. He later changed his plea from not guilty to guilty.

The trial magistrate later asked the convict whether the evidence adduced by the prosecution witness was true and correct. The convict admitted that all the evidence was true and correct as narrated by prosecution witnesses. In his plea of mitigation he begged the court to reduce the punishment.

The trial Magistrate subsequently convicted and sentenced him accordingly.
