EID-UL-ADHIA MESSAGE: ISLAM—A RELIGION OF PEACE, TOLERANCE AND RESPECT

Oct 9, 2014, 11:43 AM

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatuhu

Muslims across the country and all over the world will be celebrating the Eidul Adha in remembrance of Hadhrat Ibrahim, Hadhrat Hajarah and Hadhrat Ismael (may Allah Almighty shower His mercy upon them). They were examples of piety, steadfastness, tolerance and devotion. According to the Holy Qur’an, Hadhrat Ibrahim (as) was wholly submissive to Allah Almighty and totally devoted to him.

Every Muslim should be an example of the noble life of Hadhrat Ibrahim as commanded by the Holy Qur’an that the believers should follow the millah (way of life) of Hadhrat Ibrahim (as), dissociating ourselves totally from Shirk and devoting ourselves to Allah Almighty. That should be the life of a believer.

Therefore a true believer should be a haven of peace for all and sundry; believers and non-believers alike. The Holy Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (saw) said that a Muslim is he from whose hand and tongue other people are safe. Indeed, Islam itself means peace and a Muslim has internal peace through the establishment of a strong relationship with Allah Almighty and has a peaceful co-existence with the society. Living by this example, the Holy Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (saw) safeguarded the rights of non-believers, Jews and Christians and afforded everyone peace, security and protection. Even where conflicts and wars broke out, he laid down rules of engagement that made sure that the fundamental human rights of even the enemies were protected. On many instances, he unconditionally freed prisoners of war who were bent on claiming his life. He fed the enemies in times of famine and even allowed a Christian delegation from Najran to offer their prayers in his Mosque in Madinah.

One of the greatest injustices therefore is attributing violence to him, the Holy Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (saw). He has no relationship whatsoever with violence and disorder. He was not just the Prince of Peace; he was the embodiment of peace. The Holy Qur’an declares that the nearest of men to Hadhrat Ibrahim (as) are those who followed Ibrahim (as) and the Holy Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (saw), and Allah Almighty indeed is the Friend of such people. Therefore, let us follow Prophet Ibrahim (as) and the Holy Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (saw) by maintaining the peace of the society and condemning in words and actions those who desire to defame them.

Let us not use the name of Islam to pursue selfish motives and ulterior objectives. Like Hadhrat Ibrahim (as) and his family, let us kill our selfish egos in order to earn Allah Almighty’s love and pleasure and also strive to raise the peaceful flag of Islam in every part of the world. There should be a reaffirmation of that commitment as we offer the sacrificial animals.

Let us continue being supportive to the poor, needy and orphans and diligently serve them with love.

I once again take this opportunity to convey to you the greetings of love, peace and brotherhood and EID MUBARAK from the Supreme and Spiritual Head of the Worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih V (ATBA). He is always praying for the peace, security and prosperity of our dear country and the the entire world at large. On behalf of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at the Gambia, I convey to you a warm EID MUBARAK.

O Allah, Lord of Might and Glory, Bestower of bounties and Forgiver of sins! To You we have submitted our bodies and souls. Make us embodiments of peace and examples of the noble sacrifices of Hadhrat Ibrahim and his family (peace be upon them). Enable of to subdue our personal desires for Your sake. Bestow peace and security on the Ummah of the Khatamun Nabiyyeen (Seal of the Prophets) Hadhrat Muhammad Mustafa (saw); and stop and resolve all the disorders and wars that we are experiencing and suffering in different parts of the world.Shower Your limitless grace, mercy, love, peace, security and prosperity on our dear and beloved country The Gambia and the entire world at large. Ameen.

Wassalam
