The 2014 Super Nawetan champions, Serrekunda East, are set to welcome Banjul in the 2015 Super Nawetan opening game on Sunday 25 October 2015, at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium at 4.30pm.
Serrekunda East clinched the 2014 super nawetan title following their penalty shootout win over Bakau, after the regulation time failed to produce a winner in the final game played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.
The East boys, who beat the city boys in the group stage in the 2014 super nawetan, will be contesting for a win against the latter to grab the vital three points as well as to keep their hopes of retaining the 2014 super nawetan crown.
On the other hand the city boys will be coming all out for revenge after losing to Serrekunda East in the 2014 super nawetan, to grab the maximum three points as well as to keep their chances of clinching the super nawetan, after several years of trophy drought.
The annual championship attracts spectators from Greater Banjul and its satellite areas for the country’s community biggest football fray.
The championship also produces more sporting ambience and brilliant football than the country’s premier and second tier.
Premier and second tier clubs in the country use the super nawetan to scout good players for their respective clubs.
The national team coaches also use super nawetan to scout good players for their respective national teams ranging from U-17, to U-20, U-23 and the senior national team.
