The trial of Andrew Van Roy, a Dutch national, resumed Monday at the Brikama Magistrate’ Court before Magistrate Abeke.

However, the matter could not proceed as the accused person was not brought from Mile 2 State Central Prison where he was remanded in custody.

According to 1st Class 2294 Lamin Jammeh, who was holding brief for Inspector Kebba Fadera, the reason for Roy’s absence from court was that the police vehicle that takes remand prisoners from Mile 2 to court had a breakdown.

He, therefore, applied for an adjournment, and the case was adjourned till 26th April 2011.

The particulars of the offence on count one, stated that Andre Van Roy, in 2009 at Tintinto village in the Kombo East district of the West Coast Region,  had canal knowledge of three under-age girls.

Count two stated that the accused in the same year and place, being a tourist, sexually abused three under-age girls by undressing them, and showing them pornography.
