Dums FC on Saturday 3rd November 2012 defeated Alkaida FC at their junior final tournament at Banjulinding village in the
Kombo North District.
The junior tournament was played in memory of the late Ajaratou Jammeh, the mother of Pa Suwareh Faye Director of Youth and Sports.
Their second title win came after a penalty shoot-out, and leading their opponent by 6-5 from a well-contested game.
Speaking to Pointsport at the end of the final, Pa Suwareh Faye, who helped organize the tournament for years now in memory of his mother said, “I really missed someone who really loved me, and made me who I am today.”
He revealed that some years back, he was posted to many areas in the agricultural sector, during the demise of his mother while he was also working on sports.
He then organized other tournaments in Farafenni, and in Niumi Lamin which has already held its final competition.
He said that he also organized other football tournaments at Kitti village at the junior level.
Mr. Faye said that there are many junior teams in his village, and that there is need for the juniors to be promoted in football.
He commended the organizers, and the teams for the discipline shown, during the tournament which he said is a factor he considered significant in sports.
At the end of the game, the winner went home with a trophy and the runner-up was also given a prize.
