Driver granted D500,000 bail bond

One Alagie Manneh, accused of rash and negligent act causing death, was recently granted court bail of D500,000 with two Gambian sureties by the Brikama Magistrates’ Court.

The particulars of offence read that on 31 July 2012, at Makumbaya Village, the defendant, Alagie Manneh, drove a motor vehicle with registration number BJL 1256D, Ford commercial and knocked down one Momodou Sabally, thereby causing his death.

The case was adjourned till 30 January 2013.

In another development, one Modou Manneh of Tanji Village was also granted court bail of D50,000 with two Gambian sureties.

Manneh was also arraigned at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court and charged with rash and negligent act causing death.

The alleged offence stated that on 24 December 2012, the defendant, Modou Manneh, drove a motor vehicle with registration number 9975G, in a rash and negligent manner, thereby causing the death of one Modou Koroma.

Hearing continues on 30 January 2013.

In a related development, one Shering Jammeh was also arraigned at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court and charged with rash and negligent act causing death.

The particulars of offence read that the defendant, Shering Jammeh, on 2 January 2013, at Kanpan village in Foni, drove a tractor with unknown number and knocked down one Momodou Sanyang, thereby causing his death.

He denied the charge and was granted court bail of D500,000 with two Gambian sureties.

The case was adjourned till 30 January 2013.
