The second prosecution witness (PW2), Sgt 1281 Babucarr Trawally, a police detective attached to Latrikunda Police Post under the CID unit, recently testified in the trial involving one Alpha Bah, who was accused of obtaining money by false pretence before Magistrate Sowe of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.

Officer Trawally told the court that he could recall what happened on 8 August 2016.

He said on the day in question, he was on duty at his office when the accused was brought in by a police officer from Bakoteh Police Station, together with the complainant called Yusupha Bojang, for investigation.

The complainant was interviewed about the matter, and he said the accused used means and obtained his money and properties.

The complainant mentioned three mobile phones and was also claiming about D60,000.

Upon receiving both parties, the accused was interrogated and he confessed doing the act together with one Abdourahman Trawally.

The accused further confessed that he only obtained D12,000 from the complainant and, if there was any more, it must be with his colleague, Abdourahman Trawally, who was still at large, he said.

According to the accused, he had used the money and the phones got spoiled.

He then instructed one officer Drammeh to take his statement, and the accused was also charged by the same officer and detained for further investigation.

He made his statement, he said, adding that to his knowledge, nothing was recovered.

The case was adjourned until 28 September 2016.
