Defence opened yesterday in the murder case involving one Lamin Njie, a resident of Brikama Jamisa, at the Special Criminal Court in Banjul before Justice Emmanuel Nkea.
Lamin Njie, who claimed to be a mason, denied killing the deceased Mohammed Fidiga.
He told the court that on 7 September 2012, there was a dispute between Amie Gaye and Amie Jallow, in Brikama over mobile phones, and he told Amie Gaye that she should forget about the mobile phone affair.
He said at that juncture, Fidiga told Amie Jallow that Amie Gaye said she would sell the mobile phone, and would not pay her.
Designated as defence witness one (DW1), Njie further stated that he told Fidiga that what he was doing was not correct.
He added that Fidiga insulted his mother three times, and also threw at him a charcoal pot containing live coal, which hit him on the cheek.
The case continues.
