Gambia international Dawda Bah's Finish side HJK Helsinki last weekend concluded their part in the traditional Uusi Lahti Cup by taking home the bronze medal.
HJK beat traditional rivals Haka 3-0 in the match-up for third place to top up their weekend in good spirits. The goals set for the tournament were fulfilled.
A happy team Manager Antti Muurinen who was satisfied with the performance said, "I feel the weekend was very positive. We wanted to give all our players a go in two matches and we were able to do that. For any coach the Uusi Lahti Cup affords a good opportunity to watch players."
Manager Muurinen was pleased with what he saw on the pitch, especially as the younger players left a positive impression on him. The whole team managed to create a multitude of scoring chances.
Following the tournament the squad will be afforded a few days rest before returning to duty. The beginning of January has been more taxing than usual, and Muurinen does not want to risk overworking his players early.
Training will resume on Thursday in preparation for the league cup taking priority. Klubi will also face Swedish champions AIK in Seinäjoki in mid-February.
He said: "Our upcoming schedule is most intriguing. The squad will definitely remain motivated. Plenty of work remains to be done, but I'm satisfied with where we are at the moment."
HJK's next match will be against IFK Mariehamn in Saturday's league cup.
