Cricket duo return from Nigeria

Former Gambia National Captain of the Senior Cricket Squad, Prince Johnson and Vice-Captain Zaccheaus Akila recently returned from Nigeria after participating in a training programme, at the All Rounder Academy in Nigeria.

Six countries: Cameroon, Mali, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Nigeria and The Gambia made it to the all rounder training course which dealt with bowling, bating and wicket keeping

According to former senior national captain, Prince Johnson, who is also one of the few cricket coaches, charged with the task of developing school cricket, the course was fruitful as it has not only upgraded his status on knowledge about cricket but will also help him in practising  the game.

Meanwhile, in the TATA Safari Motors T-20 tournament, Jewel of India beat Wallidan to secure a final spot against Safeway/Asia XI set for December 27th 2009.

League champions Jewel of India batted first and scored 180 runs in 5 wickets, Tousif their top batsman scored 58 runs, while the highest wicket keeper Asif took 4 wickets in 18 runs.

In the second inning, Wallidan batted and scored 153 runs in 9 wickets, the highest batsman Prince Johnson scored 58 runs, while his wicket keeper George Greywoode took 3wickets in 27 runs.
