Court martial under way in The Gambia

According to reliable sources, a court martial involving six security officers has been set up by the Gambia government.

The court, which started in earnest on 10 February 2015 at the Fajara Barracks in Bakau, is headed by Nigerian-born Justice Emmanuel Amadi of the Banjul Supreme Court, Director of Public Prosecution Saileh Barkun and Ms Olimatou Danso as State prosecutors.Colonel Mamadou Sowe is president of the court martial.

While some family members of the accused are allowed to attend, the press are however denied access to cover it.

Meanwhile, the general public is anticipating that the outcome of the court proceedings will be made public by the relevant authorities.

The court martial is connected with the December 30, 2014 “Terrorist Attack” of the State House.
