The Kanifing Magistrates’ Court yesterday heard testimony in a drug case involving one Alasana Jarju, accused of being in possession of prohibited drug.

In his testimony, Ousman Jallow told the court he is a police officer attached to Mandinaba Station and that he recognised the accused person.

He said that on 13 February 2012, he visited a friend called Awa Mendy at Faraba Suto, adding that he met with one Yaya Sarjo, a police, who called him and told him to search the accused who was sitting beside him.

He said he conducted a search on the accused and found two big bundles and two medium parcels of suspected cannabis in his bag.

He then arrested the accused and took him to the checkpoint in the said village, he said, adding that he later called one Lamin Sanneh, a narcotics officer, who came with a vehicle and transported the accused, together with the suspected cannabis, to Mandinaba Police Station, where he later made a statement to that effect.

The case was adjourned till 24 May 2012.
