The defending league champions Commit FC were emerged champions of the 2011 Gunjur Super Cup title after thrashing knockout champions Manchester United FC 3-0 in a final game played at the Gunjur Nyamina Football Field on Saturday.
The keenly contested game saw both sides launching series of assaults on each other`s goal mouth but the first period failed to produce a goal.
As action reumed in the second period, Commit FC came all out and mounted heavy pressure on Manchester United’s defence line creating numerous goal-scoring opportunities and their efforts paid dividends in the 56th minute when winger Kansidia Touray netted from a briilliant long range strike to give his side the lead.
Moments later Commit FC found themselves 2-0 ahead when substitute Saikou Ceesay transform a spectacular finish to extend Commit FC`S lead in the 65th minute of the game before Dodou Saine sealed the victory in the 70th minute to earn his side their first Super Cup title.
As the champions of the Super Cup, Commit FC were crowned with a championship trophy and a cash prize of D3, 000, whilst Manchester United FC received D2, 000 as runners-up.
