Highly
placed sources informed The Point that one Tida Sawo of Jamburr village had
been arrested and currently helping the police in their investigation for
allegedly pouring hot water on a three-week old baby, Alasana Sarjo.
The incident took place last Saturday.
According to our sources, Tida Sawo, who is the first wife of one Malick Sarjo of Jamburr , Kombo South, Western Region, poured hot water on the baby, who is the son of the second wife, Jaidi Manneh also from the same village.
"Tida Sawo is the first wife of Malick Sarjo but after several years of marriage, they could not have any child and her husband then decided to get a second wife.
"After few years since he married the second wife, Jaidi Manneh, she gave birth to a baby boy but this does not seem to go well with the first wife," an eyewitness told The Point.
Sources also told this paper that on that fateful day, Jaidi Manneh went to the clinic but after returning back, she laid down the baby inside her house and was doing domestic chores at home.
"After some time, we heard the baby crying bitterly and we rushed inside only to find out that there were some bloodstains on the body of the baby. He was then rushed to hospital where it was confirmed that hot water had been poured on the baby," our sources said.
Meanwhile, the baby is currently admitted at the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital (RVTH), where he is said to be in critical condition.
