Chess Association holds congress

Chess Association last Saturday held its congress at the Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) Conference Hall.

The congress was attended by GNOC President Alhagie Momodou Dibba and National Sports Council development officer Abdou Aziz Titawo Mendy, who represented the Ministry of Youth and Sports to supervise the congress.

The outgoing president, secretary general and treasurer all delivered their reports.

The following were elected to run the affairs of the association for the next four years: Alagie Antouman Njie, President; Amadou Jallow, first vice president; Sir Suna Mbye, second vice president; Mawdo Jallow, secretary general; Larir Bahoum, assistant secretary general; Jalamang Jallow, treasurer; Rewang Jarra, assistant treasurer; Habib Mboob, auditor; and Moses Nden, public relations officer.

In his acceptance speech as president, Alagie Antouman Njie thanked the delegates for having trust in him by re-electing him into office, and promised to live up to expectations.
