Chamen FC beat Medina FC in Kebba Sarr Trophy

Chamen FC on Tuesday defeated Medina FC by 3-2 in the senior category of the annual Ndofan Nawetaan tournament at the Biri-Biri Football Field in Ndofan Village, Lower Niumi District, North Bank Region.

The tournament, organised by the Ndofan Sports Committee, is sponsored by Kora Surr and named after Kebba Sarr.

Medina FC took the lead through Mass Kah in the 4th minute but Chamen FC leveled the score just a minute later through Omar Camara.

Modou Joof and Samba Jallow increased the score line for Chamen FC in the 32nd and 69th minutes to make it 3-1 before Haruna Nyassi scored Medina FC the second consolation goal in the dying minutes of the game from a penalty spot.

Modou Gaye of Chamen FC and Haruna Nyassi of Medina FC were both red-carded after the game for unsporting behaviours.

On the same day, in the Under-15 category, sponsored by Musa Njie, the General Manager of the Independence Stadium, Mbollet-Ba FC beat Kerr Wally FC by a goal to nil. Sheriff Bah scoring the only goal of the game that separated the two teams in the 55th minute of the game. 

Earlier on Monday Mbollet-Ba FC defeated Wellingara FC 3-0 at the senior category of the same championship at the Biri-Biri football field in Ndofan village.

Musa Njie scored a brace for Mbollet-Ba FC in the 9th and 27th minute to give his side a 2-0 lead at the end of the first half.

Njie sealed the victory for Mbollet-Ba FC in the 74th minute of the game to complete his hat-trick of the game.

On the same day, in the Under-15 category, Barcelona FC of Ndofan village drew 0-0 with Busura FC.

In the other nawettan zones, Old Jeshwang Nawetaan Tournament will resume action tomorrow after a break due to the observation of the holy month of Ramadan. Old Hands FC will face Mansour FC in Friday's game while on Saturday, Dragons FC will lock horns with Barcelona FC.

T Junction FC will battle with Galaxy FC in Sunday's match.

The second edition of the annual Lower Niumi North Nawetaan will kick start on Saturday 18 September 2010 between the defending champions Kanuma FC and Njongon FC at the Mbollet-Ba Football Field in Lower Niumi District, North Bank Region.

The tournament, sponsored by Lower Niumi North Sports Committee, is expected to bring together eleven teams. Mbollet-Ba team A and B, Kanuma FC, Njongon FC, Mbankam FC, Kerr Jatta FC, Sunchu Yorro FC, Ginak Niggi FC, Ginak Kajatta FC, Ginak Barra FC and Ginak Jattako FC line up for the tournament.

Modou Lamin Jammeh, the Public Relations Officer of the Committee, speaking to Pointsport, said the tournament aims to nurture grassroots talents.

World Eleven FC have maintained its unbeaten run in the 2010-11 Gunjur nawetaan tournament, following their slander narrow 1-0 win over Happy Gunjur FC in group A on Tuesday 14 September 2010, at the Gunjur Playing ground.

World Eleven FC scored through midfielder Alagie Janneh in the 78th minute of the game from a spectacular strike to make it 1-0 for World Eleven FC.

World Eleven FC top group A with maximum 6 points in two games while Happy Gunjur FC are 2nd place in group A with 3 points.
