The Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, presided over by Magistrate Tabally, recently convicted and sentenced one Alieu Sey to six months in prison with hard labour without any option of a fine.
The convict, who was found guilty of stealing, was also ordered to compensate the complainant with D10,000.
According to charge sheet, the convict, Alieu Sey, in 2010, at Kanifing Layout, entered into the house of one Mustapha Camara and stole cash amount of D6,000 and a mobile phone marked Siemens valued at D2,000.
After going through the testimonies of the prosecution witnesses and the convict, the trial magistrate told the court that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubts.
He consequently convicted and sentenced Sey accordingly after he pleaded for leniency.
