Magistrate Kayode of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court recently convicted and sentenced one, Lasana Saho to six months in prison without any option of a fine for shop breaking and stealing.

Delivering the judgement, the trial magistrate told the court that the prosecution has proven its case beyond reasonable doubt.

He said the evidence of the complainant was that he found the convict at Serekunda Police Station with 32 pairs of shoes belonging to him.

Magistrate Kayode further stated that the convict had failed to cross-examine the complainant even though he has the opportunity to do so.

He went on to reveal that PW2 also told the court that he was working at the Serrekunda Market when he saw the convict putting shoes into a green bag when he eventually shouted for help.

The trial Magistrate further stated that the evidence of PW1 and PW2 were consistent, and that the evidence of PW2 remained unchallenged by the convict.

The convict, in his plea of mitigation, begged the court to temper justice with mercy on him.
