Following a plea of guilt to a charge of shop-breaking and stealing, one Alhagie Bah, a Fisherman at Sanyang Village was recently convicted and sentenced by Magistrate J.A. Effim of the Brikama Magistrates' Court to a fine of D4000, in default to serve six months in prison.
According to the fact as narrated by the Police Prosecutor, Cadet ASP Samateh, it happened on 23 October, 2009, at Sanyang when the complainant, Mr. Baboucarr Ngum, lodged a complained at the Sanyang police station that his fuel shop was broken into.
He said upon receiving the complained, the police mounted an investigation which led to the arrest of one Tijan Jallow with 9 gallon of 20 liter of gas oil.
He revealed that when Tijan was interrogated he informed the police that the gallons was given to him by the accused, Alhagie Bah, who was also subsequently arrested and taken to the police station.
Cadet ASP Samated further narrated that, the accused confessed during the interrogation and led the police to recover the stolen items before he was cautioned and charged with the offence committed.
