As league leaders Marimoo share spoils with Blue Star

Brufut United have thumped Lamin United 2-0 in the all-West Coast Region derby game played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium to recover in contention for promotion to the top flight next season.

As league leaders, Marimoo shared loots with Blue Star at the Father Gough Sports Complex in Manjai Kunda to maintain top spot in the second tier and also keep their unbeaten run in the campaign.

Brufut United lost to Marimoo 3-0 prior to their West Coast Region derby clash, whilst Lamin drew 1-1 with Immigration prior to their tricky West Coast Region derby game.

Lamin United, who are currently languishing at the relegation zone in the second tier, emanated for a victory against Brufut United to grab the vital three points in order to move away from the relegation zone, but were reluctant to bag the maximum points.

Brufut United are occupying second spot in the second tier despite their 3-0 defeat to Marimoo in their previous fixtures.

They came all out to beat Lamin United and bounce back in contention for promotion to the top flight next season hence dominated the game and created numerous goal-scoring opportunities.

Almamy Ceesay and Omar Jarjue were on target for the Sanimentereng boys after squandering several goal-scoring opportunities earlier in the game.

The victory has earned Brufut United second spot in the second tier standings in six league matches a single point behind league leaders Marimoo, who have bagged 14 points in six league matches.

Lamin United are still struggling in the second tier with a single point in six league matches and are hoping to win their remaining fixtures in the first round to move away from the relegation zone and snatch good position in the league.
