A British couple Sue and Dennis Martins recently presented cycling items to the Gambia Cycling Association at the Gambia National Olympic headquarters in Kanifing.

The donated items included sport gears, spare parts, biscuits and water bottles.

According to the couple, the gesture came through the help of an English veteran cyclist Mr Jone Hupper during his visit to The Gambia following an outstanding performance by Gambian cyclists during the Brufut Marathon Run last December.

Jone Hupper, the couple added, had been a magnificent cyclist and is also keen to help the Gambia Cycling Association realise its potential.

According to the couple, they are willing and ready to make cycling a popular game in The Gambia.

The head coach of the Gambia Cycling Association Mr Modou Njie thanked the couple for the donation which he described as timely. According to him, Gambian cyclists are optimistic of reaching international standards shortly provided they are well equipped.
