Brikama United move to camp

Gambian league champions Brikama United yesterday morning moved to camp ahead of their crucial first leg tie of the second round of the 2012 CAF Orange African Champions against the current African champions Esperance of Tunis, a match slated for Saturday 24 March 2012 at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium.

As part of their preparations for crunch clash against Tunisian and African champions Esperance of Tunis, the team is currently camped at the Gambia Football Association (GFA) FIFA Goal project in Old Yundum with 24 players.

The Gambian champions sailed to the second round in the continent’s top-tier football club competition showdown following their 3-1 post-match penalty shootout win over Senegalese league champions US Ouakam in the first round after a 1-1aggregate draw in both legs.

In an interview with reporters before their departure to camp, the head coach of Brikama United, Sulayman Kuyateh, said preparations for their clash with Esperance of Tunis is in high gear, while challenging his players to be hardworking as well as to note that each player has a permanent place in the team and that all players have to fight for their place in the team.

According to coach Kuyateh, he and the coaching staff would put in all efforts to ensure they win the game.He also expressed optimism that his boys “will certainly perform to expectations”, and seized the opportunity to call on the fans to come out in their numbers to cheer the team.
