Following his side’s exit in the 2012 CAF Orange Champions League at the weekend, the head coach of Brikama United, Sulayman Kuyateh, has blamed the central referee for his side’s 3-1 defeat to current African champions Esperance of Tunisia in the return leg tie.
Coach Sulayman Kuyateh made these remarks in an exclusive interview with reporters at Gunjur Nyamina Football Field shortly after the Gunjur league final between Gamcel FC and Oxford United on Monday.
Kuyateh stated that the central referee contributed immensely towards their exit in the CAF African Champion’s league, adding that they got two clear penalties but all those penalties were denied by the central referee.
Kuyateh further stated that Esperance’s third goal “was not clear” because his central defender Adama Sabally was pushed down to the ground but the central referee decided to ignore the foul and allowed the match to progress, which eventually resulted into their conceding of the third goal.
Kuyateh admitted that Esperance is a big team in the continent and have won CAF champions league twice.
He said they would now concentrate on the GFA league.
